| Beijing is the capital city of China as well as a well-known historical
and cultural city. It is the political, economic, transportation and
cultural center of the country; there are many splendid cultural arts
and interests.
Beijing is located in the northwest of the Huabei Plain, 150 kilometers
southeast from the Bohai Sea. It covers 18.8 thousand square kilometers,
with a population of nearly 14 million. To the north is the Jundu
Mountain, to west is Xishan Mountain, and southeast is a plain inclined
toward the Bohai Sea, as the deposition of the Yongdinghe River,
Chaobaihe River and other rivers. These created the beautiful natural
sceneries around the capital city such as Baihua Mountain, Linshan
Mountain, Miaofengshan Mountain and so on. At the same time, the
city has a long history as the imperial center of the Middle Kingdom,
with the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the
tombs of 13 Ming emperors, which has been listed as world cultural
relics. In addition, the city's quadrangles, roast ducks and other
local refreshments all attract tourists.
